Materials of Writing assignment

1. I did feel different writing i crayon as opposed to pen or pencil. My writing style itself had to change so that it would be legible. I couldn't have the same semi-cursive style of writing that i had become used to, i had to lift the crayon off the paper every time i wrote a new letter. The ideas themselves also seemed to slow like a child instead of a college student. Complex ideas did not flow effectively and simple grammatical errors fought to come to life. It was also odd writing on orange paper as opposed to white, lined notebook paper. Also writing in the crayon was hard because of the wax itself. it was hard to get on a roll when every two sentences you had to rotate or sharpen the crayon to give yourself a better surface to write with. It was a different experience writing in crayon all together for a multitude of different reasons.

2. I was very impressed with the papers of my colleagues as a group. There was a large amount of creativity amongst most of the papers, far more then in my own. Paper number two for example, used a different color crayon every time they changed an idea or had a different quotation. Also the colors themselves that the author used complimented each other. They used a lot of warm colors that blended well with their yellow backdrop, and used cold colors to initiate the transition between main body text and quotes or new ideas.

3. I believe that a culture that could only write in crayon would be less organized and more creative. It is almost impossible to erase crayon so whatever is written is for the most part there for ever or you would have cross outs  and scribbles. You would also have a large mount of spelling and grammatical errors. It would also lead to more creative writing because when you write in bright colors you cant help to be creative and somewhat childish.

4. Based on the experience of this exercise i would say that if i got the choice i would much rather prefer to write either on computer or with a pen on white paper. It is much more comfortable for me writing in a medium that i am used to writing in. Also my writing style is best suited for a pen, with the large connected motions i use to write it doesn't make much sense for me to write with an instrument that dulls over a short period of time. In the future i plan to write with a blue pen on white paper so this way my ideas can be portrayed in the fashion they were intended.
